Here are examples of some of our outreach projects.
Art by the Sea
February 2011: Hosted by Big Blue and You on the sand of South Beach, children and their families learned about wildlife, ocean and conservation issues with numerous arts & crafts, educational booths and surf lessons. BBWK hosted a booth where children painted creatures found in Biscayne Bay on their own personal canvas.
SPLASH event
April 2012: In partnership with Waterkeeper Alliance, and made possible by national sponsors KEEN and Toyota, BBWK hosted a SPLASH event at the Biscayne Nature Center and their staff to promote celebration and recreational use of Biscayne Bay. A family friendly event, the full day of activities included a seagrass exploration catch & release, a nature walk on the beach of Key Biscayne, innovative water & ocean themed crafts projects and kayak and Stand Up Paddle Board demonstrations.http://splashseries.org/past
